From the Machiya
Stroll to the UNESCO World Heritage listed Nishihongwanji and immerse yourself in its ancient history and majestic architecture.
Visit the Kyoto Aquarium just opposite, which recreates the connection of life from the source of Kyoto’s rivers to the sea and the ecosystems where numerous life forms co-exist. Enjoy the edutainment and interactive events where visitors can have fun while learning about aquatic life, as well as presentations by specialist aquarium keepers.
Next door, participate in the festivals and events at Umekoji Park. Here, you will find the the Midori-no-kan garden, tea house and restaurant and the Inochi-no-Mori garden and small ponds. It is is also home to the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum which is being upgraded to include the shinkansens.
In the mornings, take a quiet stroll to a mini version of the Tsukiji Fish Market, with seafood, kitchenware and crockery. Take direct buses to Kinkakuji, Golden Temple and to Gion to see maikos and geishas or dress up as one even. So many things to see and do!

We had an awesome experience staying here! VERY clean, and there were a tonne of guides that were extremely useful. The Machiya has modern facilities but still holds a traditional feeling which we loved.The location of the Machiya is really good. The hosts themselves are very kind people with extremely quick communication and really good english so was a breeze to organise with them. Can't say enough good things about this place - but i highly recommend it for your stay.
This is a very nice and convenient place, which is nearby the Kyoto Station, 5mins by bus or 15mins by walking. If you and your friends came here, you will feel the host's heart. All the details in this Machiya were set very carefully. The hosts are very kind people and always give us advice on time. The guides they left in Machiya were very useful for us. All of us had a wonderful time in their place.
This is a really good vacation home in so many ways. The hosts have kept the place very well as it's very clean, neat and tidy. It's well equipped in terms of appliances. The futon is sturdy and comfortable. The interior design is nice and warm. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, sharing lots of information including good places to eat. I enjoyed my stay here very much. It was one of my lovely and memorable experiences in Kyoto. I often looked forward to going back after a long day out, a home away from home.
